KFC Job Interview Tips

The first step to getting a KFC job is submitting an application. Some locations will require you to do this online through jobs.kfc.com; others will accept paper applications on-site. You’ll fill out basic information about yourself, your work history and your hours of availability.

If you’re selected for an interview, the restaurant manager will e-mail or call you. You can expect to spend anywhere from 30-60 minutes on actual KFC interview questions. Here are some tips for making a good impression with KFC Management;

Arrive On Time

Punctuality is essential in a busy, fast-paced environment like KFC’s. Show the manager that you understand these expectations by arriving for your interview on time and fully prepared.

Research Job Openings and Requirements

Some positions might require you to have a certain amount of experience or work a particular number of hours each week. Other KFC interview questions might revolve around scheduling conditions that require nights, weekends, or holidays.

Be Specific

Instead of saying something like “I’m open to any job,” try to offer distinct skills or interests that would make it easier for the manager to place you. For example, you might say “I can work wherever you need me, but I have the most experience as a line cook.”

Prepare Your Answers in Advance

Research the most common KFC interview questions and practice how to respond. This will ensure that all of your answers are calm, thoughtful and carefully tailored for a maximum chance of success.

KFC Interview Questions & Answers

Let’s take a look at some common KFC interview questions and how to impress the hiring manager with your responses. We’ll cover three different entry-level positions: customer service team member, food service team member, and general team member.

1. KFC Customer Service Team Member Interview Questions & Answers

Q1: What do you enjoy customer service?
A: I find fulfillment in helping people. Even if it’s just welcoming them with a smile and taking their orders quickly and accurately, I enjoy feeling like I’ve made their day a little brighter. I’m a natural people person, so with a customer service job, I’m in my natural habitat.

Q2: How would you handle a difficult customer?
A: I believe in taking ownership of the problem. If a customer is unhappy with their experience, it’s my responsibility as a representative of the brand to fix it. I would use my people skills to talk to them, calm them down and identify their issue, and then I would take whatever measures necessary to resolve the conflict.

Q3: How do you define good customer service?
A: I believe that good customer service follows the Golden Rule. Treat customers the way that you would want to be treated if the situations were reversed. Be honest, helpful, kind, quick and courteous, and do your best to ensure that the customer will want to come back to KFC.

2. KFC Food Service Team Member Interview Questions & Answers

Q1: What kind of experience do you have with handling and preparing food?
A: I’ve never worked in fast food before, but I understand the basic principles of meal preparation, resource allocation, and workplace sanitation. I understand the importance of keeping things neat, organized and efficient even as you focus on creating delicious meals for customers.

Q2: Why have you applied for this position? Why aren’t you interested in any other position here at KFC?
A: I’m willing to join the KFC team in any capacity, but I have to admit that I’m most interested in being a cook. I enjoy working with my hands, and I would love the challenges presented by a busy kitchen where you have to stay on your toes. I’m a high-energy person, so I think I would thrive in a bustling environment.

Q3: Are you able and willing to perform other tasks outside of traditional cooking duties?
A: Yes, I excel at multitasking. If you ever need me to step outside of the kitchen and help with stocking the freezer or unloading the inventory truck, that won’t be a problem. I understand that food preparation might only be part of my job and not the entire scope of it.

3. KFC General Team Member Interview Questions & Answers

Q1: What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?
A: My strengths are all related to my work ethic. I’m punctual, responsible and hard-working, and I always give myself 100 percent to whatever I’m doing. My biggest weakness is probably my focus. It’s easy for me to get so absorbed in a task that the rest of the world falls away.

Q2: What are your goals?
A: My ultimate goal is to become a manager, though I realize that I’ll need a lot of training and experience before I’m ready for that kind of responsibility. But I’d love to build myself a real future at KFC. I’ve heard that the company has things like shift lead and assistant manager training?

Q3: Why do you want to work at KFC?
A: I love KFC. I’ve been eating KFC since I was a child. It’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I’m excited by the thought of joining the team and working for a brand that means something to me. Maybe I’ll even learn the secret recipe!
